Puppy Foundation Assessment During puppy hood it is important to lay a solid foundation for the puppy’s future – these classes help you to achieve this and work with your puppy through this stage.
Training includes areas such as:Responsibility, care, play, socialisation, handling, puppy recall, basic puppy positions, walking in a controlled manner, food manners, plus various others.
Age: Puppies up to 12 months of age
Certification: Rosette and Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Assessment Certificate
Bronze Award This will provide you and your dog with a basic knowledge of understanding and training.
The aim is to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow you to clean, groom and inspect it. The dog must be able to be positioned by you for inspection and come to hand when called.
Age: There is no age limit (dogs are not required to have completed the Puppy Foundation Assessment)
Certification: Kennel Club Bronze Award
Silver Award This will build upon the skills learned in the Bronze Award whilst increasing the level of difficulty. It will provide you with a good knowledge of understanding and training.
This is a natural progression of practical training skills and introduces new concepts such as the controlled greeting, road walk and vehicle control which are important in everyday life situations. In addition the Silver level covers such exercises as play with dog; rejoin handler; come away from distractions; food manners; examination of dog (by examiner) and stay in one place.
Age: There is no age limit but dogs are required to have obtained their Bronze Award Test Certificate first
Certification: Kennel Club Silver Award
Gold Award This is the highest level of Good Citizenship and builds on the skills learned in the Silver Award. It will provide you with an intermediate knowledge of understanding and training.
This introduces new exercises such as relaxed isolation, stop the dog and send the dog to bed. Other exercises covered as part of this level include return to handler’s side; road walk; walk free beside handler; food manners and stay in one place.
Age: There is no age limit but dogs are required to have obtained their Silver Award Test Certificate first
Certification:Kennel Club Gold Award - this the highest level of achievement
